  • The organ of the abbey church is installed in the western gallery of the nave. Its wooden case carved in 1711 is the only vestige of François Lépine's organ, it was once vividly coloured. The instrument was perhaps restored around 1737 by Dom Bedos de Celles. At the end of the 19th c., the council of the Fabrique chose the best organist of his time to restore the organ: Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, the Parisian organ builder. In 1898, the inauguration organized by Francis Planté was grandiose....

In 1898, the inauguration organized by Francis Planté was grandiose. It is one of the rare romantic organs still intact. It has 2130 pipes spread over 36 stops, 3 manuals and 1 pedalboard.
